RE:                 Attendance Policy for the Rank of Star, Life, and Eagle

 

Requirement for advancement will be 60% participation for the period of time stated in the Boy Scout Handbook for that particular rank advancement.  For the rank of Star a scout must be active for a minimum of 4 months.  For the rank of Life a scout must be active for a minimum of 6 months.  For the rank of Eagle a scout must be active for a minimum of 6 months. For those scouts that are below the percentage for rank advancement, participation consideration will be calculated back not more than two previous Court of Honors.

 

Participation will be credited to the scout for Thursday meetings when scout is in full Class A Uniform and at the meeting from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.  If a scout has an outside activity that scout will be given credit for the entire meeting if they arrive to the meeting in a Class A Uniform by 7:00 p.m.

 

All Thursday meetings are considered for the attendance participation percentage.  This includes Court of Honors (excluding Eagle Court of Honors).

 

RE:     Position of Responsibilities for the Rank of Star, Life, and Eagle

 

For the Rank of Star a scout must attend two Patrol Leader Meetings within the four month requirement as stated in the Boy Scout Handbook rank advancement.

 

For the Rank of Life a scout must attend three Patrol Leader Meetings within the six month requirement as stated in the Boy Scout Handbook rank advancement.

 

For the Rank of Eagle a scout must attend three Patrol Leader Meetings within the six month requirement as stated in the Boy Scout Handbook rank advancement.

 

Additionally each scout is required to have one or more Leadership Observations documented at meetings or outings during current rank advancement period.

 

                                                                                                                                               

For a scout who does not hold a position of responsibility or for some reason a scout cannot fulfill the requirements listed above for position of responsibility, a Scoutmaster-assigned leadership project to help the troop may be assigned to a scout by the Scoutmaster.  If project is carried out in full by the scout on or before the board of review date for that scouts rank advancement, that scout will be credited for fulfilling the position of responsibilities requirement

                                                                                                                                               

 

RE:     Remaining Requirements

 

All community service must be preformed in troop uniform.

 

Scout must have 50% attendance on outings and/or weekend troop camping or activities.

 

 

 

Eagle Project Notification                                                                   August 2008  

Each Life Scout of Troop 167, whom is planning to obtain the rank of Eagle, shall adhere to the following for their Eagle Project.  

  1. Troop Notification. The candidate for Eagle shall provide notification of project and work date(s) at scheduled troop meetings for a four-week period after his Eagle Project has been approved by the Glacier’s Edge Council. This notification(s) is to inform our scouts of the project, and encourage their future participation with the project. The Eagle Scout candidate must present this to the troop at a scheduled troop meeting. Scoutmaster must approve any exception in advance.

  2. Invitation. Once a date(s) has been set for his Eagle Project, an invitation is to be sent to all scouts requesting their voluntary service and involvement of the Eagle Project.

  3. Leadership. Adult scout leadership (in addition to parental) is to be present during the Eagle Project, whom will observe the leadership and coordination efforts being done by the candidate.
