COURT OF HONOR
June 12

Scouts and their families are invited (i.e., urged) to attend the Court of Honor on June 12.  The troop will recognize scouts who have advanced in rank and/or earned merit badges since the last court of honor.  The program begins at 7:30 p.m. and refreshments follow.
Travis Horel, mother of Elliott Schwartz, has volunteered to organize the social time for our Courts of Honor this year.  Expect to receive your food assignment (soda or cookies in the fall and spring, dinner food in February) from her by e-mail.  MANY THANKS to Travis for taking on this job.

FAMILY BEACH CAMP OUT

Scouts, siblings and parents, plan to meet at the Church of the Covenant at 5:00 p.m. on August 25 to begin a weekend of camping at the beach.  Please put the dates on your calendar.

PHILMONT TREK

Our Philmont bound scouts will convene at 4:45 a.m. on June 26, in advance of taking off for Denver, Colorado later that morning.  Before they reach Philmont on June 29, they will stay at Peterson Air Force Base and engage in a variety of activities: horseback riding at the Garden of the God, tour Cave of the Winds, ride the Pike's Peak Cog Railway, and go rock climbing, mountain biking and rafting.  On Tuesday, July 11, the scouts hear their last Philmont reveille, return to Denver and arrive back in Virginia at 10:45 p.m.
