TROOP 96 RULES

  1. Each Scout is required to pay dues of $ 35.00 in January and July of each year along with the subsequent food, camping and activity fees as necessary unless offset by the participation in Fund Raisers for that purpose. Dues pay for the purchase of additional and/or replacement equipment for the Troop, as well as , awards, merit badges, etc. not paid for by the Circle Ten Council, and the re-charter of the Troop each year.

  1. Parents dropping off Scouts for Troop Meetings will pick them up promptly at the conclusion of the meeting. Parents are encouraged to participate in the Troop meetings and activities.

  1. Transportation to and from Troop activities will be provided by the Scouts parents or designated family members and not the Troop Adult Leadership as required by the Youth Protection Guidelines of the BSA ( requiring 2 deep leadership ).

1. Two registered adult leaders or one registered adult leader and a parent of a participant, one of whom must be at least 21 years of age or older, are required on all trips and outings. The chartered organization is responsible for ensuring that sufficient leadership is provided for all activities." ( copied directly from the Youth Protection Guidelines - BSA - National Council )

4. Every Troop member will be in the prescribed proper uniform while in attendance at Troop functions. NO EXCEPTIONS.

5.The Senior Patrol Leader, Asst. Senior Patrol Leader, and Patrol Leaders will attend the Monthly Patrol Leader Council Meetings prepared to discuss and plan upcoming activities for the Troop. It is the responsibility of the PLC members to formulate plans and ideas before the meeting occurs and be ready to discuss same.

6. The Senior Patrol Leader is the Leader of the Troop ! The Chain of Command to be used by all Scouts is your Patrol Leader first. If the issue is not resolved, then go to the ASPL or SPL. They in turn will go to the ScoutMaster or ASST. ScoutMaster for resolution with the SPL. This will ensure that there is an orderly running of the Troop as Boy Scouts is a Scout ( Boy ) led Program.

7. The SPL will utilize the ASPL and Patrol Leaders as necessary to accomplish tasks within the Troop. Following the points of the Scout Law, each Scout shall accomplish those tasks assigned. If you don't know how or are unsure of the task, it is your responsibility to ask for clarification or instruction from the Patrol Leader, ASPL, or the SPL whom assigned the task. The SPL and ASPL conduct the meetings, set the order for setting up camp and taking down camp, and lead the Troop at Summer/Winter Camps and at Camporees.

8. All Troop members will show respect to the other members of the Troop regardless of rank or the positions held. NO EXCEPTIONS.

9. There will be no poking, pushing, hitting, kicking, name calling, disrespectful behavior, fighting, the use of hand gestures representing nasty or foul language, horseplay, or any other disruptive behavior that impedes the normal activities of the Troop.

10. Any and all disruptive behavior, ( not totally inclusive of the list above ), will be addressed with a parent and the Scout by the ScoutMaster or his/her representative and will include sanctions placed upon the Scout to include but not limited too removal from the Troop meeting, campout, or other activity for the first offense. Repeat offenses by the Scout will disallow the Scouts attendance at Troop functions until the behavior is corrected and the ScoutMaster's approval has been attained for Troop participation.

11. At no time will electronic games, radios, tape players, cd players, etc..., be allowed at or a part of a Troop function, unless they are a part of instructional material and approved by the ScoutMaster. If found, they will be confiscated and not returned.
