Gear Checklist
The Troop has compiled this printable gear list as a basic guide to help in
preparation for Camp-outs and Summer Camp. The weather should always be considered when
packing for an outing. And Remember "Be Prepared".
APPAREL
Changes of clothing
( Be prepared with 5 changes of clothing - these boys know how to get dirty and wet
fast!! )
Hiking shoes or
boots
Sneakers - If
your feet get wet, Dry shoes are nice!
Sandals or Water
Shoes
Socks - Dry
socks are a campers best friend.
Rain Gear / Poncho (Large
plastic bag will work)
Swim Trunks

/ Coat - ( Layer Clothing if Cold.)

Scout Handbook / Merit Badge

Day Pack or Fanny
Pack (Great for Day Hikes, carrying summer camp projects, a First Aid Kit or to
carry a water bottle and lunch.)
Flashlight - Check
your batteries!
Toilet Kit (toothbrush
& paste, washcloth, towel, soap, etc ... )
Personal First Aid Kit

Tent & Ground Cloth- We
will organize the use of personal and troop tents before each outing, so that we are not
carrying extra tents.
Pillow
Chapstick (We have
seen some serious chapped lips and skin from sun and wind. So be prepared.)
Sunglasses
Sunscreen / Bug Lotion ( Not
Spray )
Garbage Bag - for dirty
clothes
Compass - Not
Required, but great to test your orienteering skills.
Fishing Rod / Tackle

1. Always think about weather and destination when packing
appropiate gear.
2. If you pack clothing in 1 Gallon Zip-Lok bags, it will help to keep clothes
dry and organized throughout the trip.
3. Be prepared to stow food away - Raccoons and other critters will come looking
for any food that you think is packed away.
4. No electronic devices - gameboys, radio, TV.
5. Please notify a leader of any personal medication, health needs or problems. |
